Space DARTs | Toilet Fire | Mag-Grown - The Convo Kit #68

I've been having fun with AI-generated art since DALL·E 2 became available for everyone. We even collaborated on this week's comic!

Also, there's a free Pokemon generator in the Clickables section. Here is the pocket monster version of The Convo Kit. What would you name it?

Asteroid Dimorphos

NASA / Johns Hopkins APL

Space DARTs

NASA’s satellite just crashed into a moonlet, on purpose. DART’s mission to alter Dimorphos’ orbit around Didymos will help us deflect potential asteroid threats.

Both Hubble and Webb telescopes observed the impact, along with many more earthbound viewers. NASA will use the incoming impact data to measure Dimorphos’ orbit and learn more about its composition. Certainly a smashing success.

Toilet Fire

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Samsung want to burn poop. The collaboration stems from a 2011 project and aims to provide safe waste removal for people without access to clean water.

  • Over 3 billion people lack access to safe sanitation

  • ~200 children under 5 die every. day. from disease caused by unsafe sanitation

  •  Samsung’s toilet dehydrates and burns waste without requiring water

The toilet will be royalty-free in hopes of making it more affordable. This life-saving technology to bring sanitation into the 21st century has been 10+ years in the making.

Mag-Grown

Singapore scientists developed magnetically stimulated lab-grown meat. The process requires less animal products compared to "traditional" cell-based counterparts.

  • Most lab-grown meat use drugs or animal serum to stimulate cell growth

  • This approach uses magnetic pulses instead

  • Finely tuned magnetic fields trigger growth molecules

This process reduces time and material costs in cultivating lab-grown meat. Meaning lower prices at the grocery store and less animals affected. I'm not sure what it is, but I keep getting drawn towards magnet news.

DALL·E 2's DART

st3v x DALLE-2 x DART

A dramatic retelling of NASA's DART mission, as told by st3v.

Background generated by DALL·E 2 based on its impression of "robot riding a satellite like a horse near an asteroid, comic book style". st3v was then drawn in, to his dream mission.
