Science + Googly Eyes = ???
Issue #204

ARRO Dynamic is where I make things up and people say it makes them laugh.
I think you’ll love it! Here’s what to expect:

We’ll get back to science shenanigans next time. Follow the googly eyes for this week’s science news in Clickables 👀.

look out for googly eyes at your local path
Googly Eyes Go Pro
Googly eyes can save you up to 8 watts, if you know where to look. Correctly placing oogling onlookers keeps air attached for longer, providing slipstream benefits similar to time trial helmets.
The googlies function like other stick-outy bits seen on aerodynamic clothing and frames. Inspired by nature, eyes guide airflow to the fastest path across the bike. Which, contrary to popular belief, is NOT a straight line.
Scientists, physicists, and anthropologists collaborated to mimic the flow of some of the fastest streams they could find within a short walk from home. By replacing each pupil with sensors they quickly determined that air was indeed flowing over and around the googly eyes.

Surprising Bonus Feature
An unexpected benefit found testing on cobbles is the extreme jostling of eyes while racing across bumpy terrain. A phenomenon researchers unanimously named “googling”.
Googling? That’s already a thing, we can’t call it that.
Most neighboring riders tend to cramp from laughing, spit out their hydration, or a combination of both.
Googly eyes are currently available pretty much everywhere. With special race-edition UC-eyes expected later this year.

It’s like sports coverage had a weird dream.
I like making things up and writing about them as if they’re real. People tell me it’s funny, so if you’re a person then you should check it out!

Last week: “Which is a cooler tardigrade tattoo?”

Maybe a tardigrade decides this “water bear” is the tattoo they get…for science!
Make sure you vote up top for next week’s “Unnatural Selection”!

Behind the scenes: The first full drawing of st3v! I drew this on a plane after sketching a few concept designs.
The prompt: Draw my new character riding a bike on Mars. Fortunately my drawing skills improved (thanks to weekly comics!) and st3v has remained his eagerly excited self.
